  4/30/2010 - On April 2nd of this year we lost one of our three ducks; April 14th we received four of our original ducks' siblings.  At that point we had one drake and five ducks; sadly a week later we lost another duck to an owl.  So now I am building a duck house and providing them with a pen to shelter them at night.  Additionally we have a new addition to the household; an Australian Shepherd.  As Aussies are extremely intelligent and very good at herding odd critters; her job will be to watch over and take care of the flock, including putting them up at night.  The ducks get protection and the Aussie has a job to do; which they crave.

Also, our pond has become infested with duckweed; so much so that a thousand ducks could not eat it all.  So a mitigation plan has been implemented and hopefully by the end of summer it will all be gone.
